National Children’s Dental Health Month – February & Give Kids a Smile – February 6, 2009
Give Kids a Smile is an annual centerpiece to National Children's Dental Health Month and is observed every year on the first Friday in February, while NCDHM is celebrated during the entire month of February. National Children's Dental Health Month focuses on providing oral health education to all children despite their economic status. Give Kids a Smile was designed to provide education, preventative, and restorative care to low-income children who do not have access to care.
Midwest Dental doctors and staff participate in Give Kids a Smile every year to help underprivileged children receive adequate dental care.
Dental Hygiene Month – October
Sponsored annually by the American Dental Hygienists’ Association (ADHA), National Dental Hygiene Month (NDHM) is a month-long observance of the importance of proper oral hygiene. Midwest Dental hygienists participate in Dental Hygiene Month with educational and interactive demonstrations in schools.
Oral Cancer Awareness Week – April 27 - May 3, 2009
Oral Cancer Awareness Week is a week set aside annually to educate the public about this potentially life-threatening but very treatable cancer, and promote prevention, screening and early detection. Midwest Dental doctors and staff participate by hosting an Oral Cancer Awareness Day where free screenings are given to the community.
