Position Description

The Dental Assistant’s primary responsibilities are chair-side assisting and sterilization. The ideal candidate will have previous dental assisting experience or a dental assisting certificate. Although experience is preferred, we will train the right person for the position.

Desired Qualifications

• Dental Assisting Certification
• One to two years experience as a dental assistant
• CPR Certification
• Essential Functions
• Greet and prepare patients for treatment
• Assist the dentist during examinations and treatment by handing them instruments and materials while keeping the patients’ mouth dry and clear by using suction and other devices
• Prepare tray setups for dental procedures
• Prepare treatment rooms and instruments
• Make casts of the teeth and mouth from impressions taken by dentists
• Clean and polish removable appliances
• Make temporary crowns
• Arrange and confirm appointments
• Document treatment and other notes in patient charts
• Order dental supplies and materials
• Expose, process and mount radiographs
• Provide patient education and post-treatment instructions
• Take impressions
• Fabricate mouth guards/bleaching trays
• Polish teeth
• Give fluoride treatments
• Get shade of teeth proir to Prostho/bleaching
• Other related duties as appropriate
