Position Description
The Dental Hygienist’s primary responsibilities include providing preventive and therapeutic dental hygiene services while teaching patients lifelong strategies for improved oral health.

Requirements
- State licensure
- Active CPR certification
Essential Functions
- Prepare hygiene bays for treatment
- Greet and prepare patients for treatment
- Expose, process, and evaluate the quality of radiographs
- Perform a professional dental prophylaxis, including the removal of stains, plaque and calculus from teeth, crowns and root surfaces of teeth
- Perform periodontal and caries risk assessments
- Provide additional professional services including scaling and root planing
- Place temporary fillings
- Remove sutures
- Record case histories and chart conditions of the oral cavity
- Apply sealants and topical fluoride treatments
- Instruct patients post-operatively with preventive and therapeutic care plans
- Perform equipment maintenance procedures
- Other related duties as appropriate
